3 Special Events on Homecoming Weekend

September 28, 2020 By Jerry Jeter Leave a Comment

Well, we pulled it off! Our plans for 2020 were big. God’s plans for 2020 were bigger. His plans thinned our crowd. Maybe you remember, we were hoping to have a big event in the football stadium at Montgomery Central on September 26th and then have our Homecoming the next day too. Those were big plans, especially considering we had the Sid Harris Memorial Ride earlier on the 26th.

How could all that be done? It would have taken lots of planning and lots of work to pull off. Since “Life Fest 2020” got cancelled, we decided we would keep our dates with the McNeills. Instead of the event at the football stadium, we would have a Night of Music with the McNeills in our own facility. All of this took lots of planning, lots of work and this would not involve help from other churches.

Our church is amazing! We have such great leadership and hard workers. They were able to do a fantastic job in each of these 3 big events. The Sid Harris Memorial Ride, the Night of Music and Homecoming went GREAT! I want to give a special mention to our Brother Gary Herndon. He has really grown. His message was truly from God!

There were some odd parts of Homecoming this year, as you know. Our crowd wasn’t a normal Homecoming size. We had 110. But, that’s one of the best numbers we’ve seen since the pandemic. Speaking of the pandemic, I was home quarantining with my wife because I was told I was a “probable” case and my test results weren’t back yet. Please pray for us.

I believe the biggest reason why our church is able to minister so well during this pandemic is because so many understand God’s Word, like this verse.

Joshua 1:9
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”

In Jesus’ care,
Pastor Jerry Jeter
