February is the month of Revival! Our church needs revived. Our community needs a revived church. Our nation and world need God. And, each of us need the fire of God in us to be stoked into a massive bonfire for Jesus. As we prepare for revival, our church is reading what we call “Power Verses”. The power verse we read first, during our month of revival is Mark 14:62. Let’s see what it says.
Mark 14:62 says, “And Jesus said, ‘I am, and you will see the Son of Man seated at the right hand of Power, and coming with the clouds of heaven.’”
This is talking about Jesus. Jesus is the Son of Man. That’s a curious title. It comes from Daniel 7:13-14.
Daniel 7:13-14 says, “I saw in the night visions, and behold, with the clouds of heaven there came one like a son of man, and he came to the Ancient of Days and was presented before him. And to him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom, that all peoples, nations, and languages should serve him; his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom one that shall not be destroyed.
Someday, everybody will see Jesus for who He really is. For now, many aren’t able to see Him for who He truly is. When Jesus spoke these words, He was speaking them to the high priest of Israel on that day. Think of the irony. That high priest should be helping everybody worship Jesus, the True High Priest. Instead, that high priest couldn’t see Jesus for who He really is because that high priest was too full of himself. Many who have claimed faith in Jesus are not able to see Him work powerfully in their lives due to their own sinful attitudes. They are blinded. Many refuse to live as God’s children, the way Jesus told us to live. So many who claim to be followers of Jesus live more like satan’s children than God’s.
God is not fooled. Our only hope is to bow to Jesus for His salvation and to serve Him as Lord. This places us in unity with His Body and will revive us as we serve with our brothers and sisters. I hope you will take part in this month of revival. I hope this month, many see Jesus for who He really is and are changed forever.
