God’s Word has changed lives. The Bible, in its entirety, has been together for almost 2,000 years and for that whole time, especially when people read it, understand it and apply it to their lives, the Bible has powerfully transformed lives. It is the living, active Word of God. His Word is sharper than any two-edged sword. It will separate fact from fiction, evil from good and death from life. This year, we will look at some of the most powerful verses in the Bible as our “Doing It by the Book” takes on a different feel. “Power Verses 2020” begins on New Year’s Day. Our first verse is Mark 1:15.
“The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.” – Mark 1:15
Did you read it? It didn’t take long. We can read these verses this year in seconds each day. It will be helpful for us to meditate on these “power verses” throughout the day. Copy it. Write them down. Post them on your desk or even on facebook so you can see them and be reminded about them throughout the day.
Do you understand it? When Jesus spoke these words, He was talking about His arrival. He is the King of kings, the King of heaven and earth. When He arrived, His Kingdom began. All He invited and all who responded by faith are born into His Kingdom. To be born again, we must repent and believe in Jesus. He is the Good News. He came for us. He lived and died for us. He defeated sin and the consequences of sin. He alone can offer us eternal life.
Someday, this time of waiting on His return will also be fulfilled. Everybody needs to be ready. We, the Church, need to help as many people get ready as we can. How? By sharing the Gospel. By inviting people to church so they can hear the Gospel. Beginning on February 1st, we will have a month of revival where 12 churches are working together in unity, seeking and worshiping God, in hopes that we see God move in power throughout our community and true revival comes. You have an opportunity to be a witness, to be a part of God’s Kingdom’s purpose. Join us. Invite people. We may not have much more time left. Jesus could return at any minute. Let’s see as many lives changed as possible before it is too late. In this way, we can apply our first power verse of 2020.
In Jesus’ care,
