Freedom is there

What? Freedom is where? Wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. Read it for yourselves. Those of us who are “Doing It by the Book” are reading it today anyway.

“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom” (2 Corinthians 3:17).

At least two truths can be found in this verse. 1) We are trapped in sin and the consequences of sin is death until we are born again by the Spirit of God through faith in Jesus. So, when we are set free through faith in Jesus, the Spirit of God has made us truly free. And, 2) we cannot even see what is true and right while we are lost. We are made free when the Holy Spirit lifts the veil from our eyes so we can see freely.

I challenge you. Read the context. It is there.

Lost people cannot see all that is true and right. Saved people are set free, or have the veil removed to see freely, what is true and right. No wonder our nation is in such turmoil. We are being led by people who are lost. And, if we ever have a saved person who leads us, the lost people revolt because they can’t see the good that person is trying to do.

We need God to remove the veil. That only happens when people meet Jesus. Our responsibility and privilege as believers is to share the Gospel and pray that the Spirit does what only He can do.
