Those who were prepared

Jesus tells the Parable of the Ten Virgins. It is sometimes called the “Parable of the Wise and Foolish Virgins” or the “Parable of the 10 Bridesmaids”. You can find it in Matthew 25:1-13.

A summary of the parable would go like this. There were ten bridesmaids who were awaiting the bridegroom. Five were foolish and five were wise. The foolish took their lamps (oil lamps), but took no oil for their lamps. They were unprepared. The wise took not just their lamps, but also had oil for their lamps.

If you read the story, you will find five were caught off guard and missed the coming of the Groom while the others were able to greet the Groom because they were prepared. Now, we know the Groom is Jesus and this represents the coming of the Christ. Some take it as the first coming and some take it as the second coming, or both.

The thing I want to point out is some sincerely prepared for revival in October and God brought revival to them. There was spiritual fruit for those. They sought God with their whole heart and God showed up and showed out. Others, didn’t prepare real well it seemed. Perhaps they were busy or just looked at this revival like another service. The unprepared receive few blessings, sometimes not any at all. It isn’t too late to seek God through prayer and repentance. He can still bring revival to our soul.
